"Walkie bits" is a line of toys produced by TakaraTomy. First released on June 1, 2005, Walkie bits are miniature robotic turtles with movement capabilities. Users control the turtles by pressing on the turtles' shells. Although Walkie bits appear to be simple toys, they have multiple functions:
  • In Walk Mode, the turtles move with eight different movement and sound patterns.
  • In Rhythm Mode, the user makes a sequence of presses on the turtle's shell. The turtle will memorize the pattern and walk according to it.
  • In Race Mode, the turtle moves at changing speeds. This is for racing turtles against each other.
  • In Song Mode, the turtle will play a version of Leopold Mozart's "Toy Symphony".
The official dimensions of Walkie bits are: 50mm (length) x 33mm (width) x 28mm (height). They weigh less than 15 grams, and they operate on a single CR2032 button battery. The turtles come in 6 basic colors (melon, peach, orange, mint, pineapple, and soda), though the shells are removable and can thus be placed on another turtle to create a new color combination. Later versions include shells with different patterns, include ones bearing the Chupa Chups logo. Users are also encouraged to personally decorate their own turtles.

In November 2005, TIME Magazine declared Walkie bits as one of 2005's best inventions in its robotics category. This fueled the toy's popularity outside of Japan.
