Yoshihiro Ike is a composer, sound arranger, and bassist.
In 1985, Ike's interest in fusing visual and audio works led him to form the group AIKE BAND. In 1987, they made their major debut with the album "In The First Sense," released through NEC Avenue.
Ike performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1988, where he became friends with many other artists. He returned to Japan with questions about the direction of his music, and he decided to dissolve AIKE BAND. Later that year, he participated in his first recording session overseas as he worked on "Ahimsa," a solo album by guitarist David T. Walker of the Los Angeles-based jazz group Crusaders.
Ike remained in the Los Angeles area, participating in several recording sessions. During one particular session in Hawaii, he served as the arranger and bassist with top musicians Alex Acuña, Bud Nuanez, and James Studer. In 1990, he performed as the opening act for Natalie Cole and Kenny Rogers on their respective Japan tours.
The following year, Ike was invited as a music theory lecturer at the Musicians Institute Japan, a school affiliated with the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. While in Japan, he handled the arrangement for the first album by fusion band The Iemoto.
Ike has since then composed and arranged music for many movies and television programs. Among them was "Blood: The Last Vampire," which took the top prize in the animation division of the 2000 Japan Media Arts Festival.
