An audition was held for the lead voice of Lyra in the Japanese dub of “The Golden Compass” (directed by Chris Weitz), and the winner was announced on Sunday. From a pool of 5,104 applicants, the honor went to 13-year-old fashion model Mariya Nishiuchi, who makes appearances in the magazine nicola.
Nishiuchi was also awarded one million yen and a Toyota Noah, and will attend the film’s world premiere in London on November 27. The movie opens on March 1 in Japan.
