14-year-old named youngest JUNON Superboy

The finals of the 20th JUNON Superboy Contest were held in Tokyo on Sunday. This year’s Grand Prix title went to 14-year-old Toshi Takeuchi, a second-year middle schooler from the Nagano Prefecture who is the younger brother of ski jumper Taku Takeuchi.

A total of 15,084 young men applied for this year’s contest. Takeuchi overcame all of them to become the youngest winner in the history of the competition, which has produced stars such as Shinji Takeda, Teppei Koike, and Yuta Hiraoka.
