Micro of hip-hop unit Def Tech has established his own record label under Universal Music. At the press conference on Thursday, it was announced that the two-man band Spontania will be the first artist released under the new label, which is officially called Primary Color Recordz. Micro also announced plans for his own solo release.

Meanwhile, Def Tech will remain on an independent label. Rumors surfaced last year that the group will break up, but the two have said that they have no such plans. Shen is currently on break in his native Hawaii and is expected to return to Japan in March.

A game based on the Death Note series will soon be released for the Nintendo DS in Japan. The game is titled "Death Note: Kira Game" and will retail for 4,980 yen. The release date is February 15.

Reports that actress Aya Hirayama and actor Kei Tanaka are dating have recently become public. They first met last year when they both appeared in the movie "Backdancers!," which opened in Japan last September. Hirayama played a dancer who gradually falls into a relationship with her manager, played by Tanaka. Around April, during the final stages of filming, the two began dating in real life.

Neither Hirayama's nor Tanaka's agency has confirmed the relationship, saying that the two are just friends.

On Friday, NHK announced its lineup of casters for the network's major shows this year. The Sunday afternoon program "NHK Nodo Jiman" will be hosted by Akira Tokuda after current host Ryuji Miyamoto becomes a free announcer this March. Another change will take place on the Friday night program "Eigo de Shabera Night," with announcer Minoru Aoi replacing Kazuya Matsumoto.

NHK also announced that its new Saturday night program "Kaitai Shin Show" will be hosted by announcer Yuka Kubota.

NTV announcer Kimie Osugi (43) fell to her death from her apartment building in Shibuya. The incident occurred at around 6:30am on February 2. A note left behind has led police to conclude that it was likely a suicide.

Osugi joined NTV in 1987. Last year, she gave birth to her first child after four years of marriage with her husband, who is ten years younger. She was apparently troubled by her health, which had worsened after the delivery of the child.

Mamoru Hosoda's animated film "Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo" ("The Girl who Leapt Through Time") will have its U.S. premiere at the New York International Children's Film Festival. The movie was released in Japan last year, and it quickly became one of the most talked-about animated films despite its limited release. It has also won multiple awards, including one at Sitges.

The screening will take place on Saturday, March 3 at 6:30pm. Tickets are $10. See the NYICFF website for more details.

Popular duo Dreams Come True will hold two concerts at the National Stadium at the end of this summer. They will be just the second act to hold a solo concert at the venue, which holds close to 60,000 people. SMAP has done so twice, in 2005 and 2006.

The two shows will be the final performances in DCT's Wonderland tour, which has happened every four years since 1991. The tour begins on August 4 at Sapporo Dome, and will include shows at the domes in Fukuoka, Nagoya, and Osaka. The National Stadium concerts will be held on September 22 and 23.
