Actor Hayato Ichihara has been chosen to star in the action film, "Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge," based on the popular novel of the same name by Tatsuhiko Takimoto. The movie will be directed by Takuji Kitamura.
Ichihara plays a pessimistic high schooler who meets a mysterious woman (Megumi Seki) and becomes involved in her fight against a chainsaw-wielding man. The movie utilizes a lot of CG effects, which are being handled by Digital Frontier (the company that provided visual effects for the "Death Note" movies).
Other cast members include Yosuke Asari, Haruma Miura, Maho Nonami, and Itsuji Itao. No release date has been scheduled yet.

The 42nd Kamigata Manzai Awards were held in Osaka on Saturday. The winner of the top prize this year was the duo Messenger. They formed in 1991, but they have been more successful recently, winning several awards in the last few years. In 2005, they were given an encouragement prize in the Kamigata Manzai Awards, and last year they took the main prize in the Kamigata Owarai Awards.
The other winners this year were Yano Hyodo (Encouragement Award), Nasu Nakanishi (Best Newcomer), and Noroshi (Newcomer Award).
