Filming for the movie "HERO" recently began at the Osanbashi Hall in Yokohama. The film, directed by Masayuki Suzuki, is a continuation of the popular 2001 drama series starring Takuya Kimura and Takako Matsu. That series averaged a 34.3% rating, and its popularity was proven again when a special episode that aired last year achieved a 30.9% rating.
The movie features the public prosecutor Kuryu (Kimura) back at work in Tokyo, along with the cast from the original series. He gets placed in charge of a seemingly small case, but an unexpected turn of events turns it into his most difficult one yet.
Filming is scheduled to end during the middle of next month, and the movie is expected to be fully completed by early August. The movie opens in theaters on September 8.
