The city of Asaka, Saitama is planning to erect a monument in honor of the late pop star Minako Honda and her contributions to the city, which is her hometown. Honda died in November 2005 from acute myelogenous leukemia, at the age of 38.
The 1.5 meter tall monument will be placed at the south entrance of the Asaka station on the Tobu Tojo Line. It will be made of stone and alloy, and will include an engraving of a poem that Honda wrote while she was battling her illness. The monument's design includes an embedded photo of Honda and a device that will play a recording of her singing. The city is aiming to complete construction by July 31, the date of Honda's birth.

Actor Hayato Ichihara is likely to face charges for a traffic accident he caused last month. On May 25, he collided with another car at an intersection in Kawasaki, Kanagawa. At first, it was thought that neither party suffered any injuries, but the other driver is now complaining of neck pains. It is expected that charges will be filed within the next few days.

The popular BS-i drama franchise "Keitai Deka" has spawned a theater production. The play is tied in with the sixth series, "Keitai Deka Kai Zenigata," which begins airing on July 7. It will feature Aya Omasa and Masao Kusakari, who are both members of the television show's main cast. This is Omasa's first theater role.
The play will use an original story, and is also designed to include audience participation. It will be performed at the Akasaka Red Theater in Tokyo from July 21 to July 29.

Anime Expo 2007 has announced yet another musical Guest of Honor. Singer Chiaki Ishikawa, also known as the vocalist of See-Saw, will perform at this year's convention. Her one-hour concert will take place on Sunday, July 1 at the Long Beach Arena.
