A new Oricon survey asked 900 men and women in their 20s to 40s, "Which celebrity would you want to wake you up in the morning?"
At the top of the women's list was eternal heartthrob Masaharu Fukuyama. He was followed in order by Teppei Koike, Koichi Domoto, Takuya Kimura, and Junichi Okada.
Meanwhile, men preferred actress Masami Nagasawa, who outranked Yukie Nakama, Megumi Yasu, and Ayumi Hamasaki. Saki Aibu, Aya Ueto, and Manami Konishi had a three-way tie for fifth place.
The order in the overall rankings was: Fukuyama, Nagasawa, Koike, Domoto, Kimura, Nakama and Okada (tied for 6th), Hamasaki, Yasu and Tomohisa Yamashita (tied for 9th).

Actor and comedian Kanichi Tani died of a cerebral hemorrhage on Monday afternoon. He was 74.
Tani made his TV debut as Gorohachi Fukuro, the assistant of detective Juro Iwai in the late 1950s series "Gekko Kamen" ("Moonlight Mask"). The next year, he formed the comedy trio 3 Pockets with Kiyoshi Atsumi and Keiroku Seki. The group later disbanded, and Tani continued acting on television and on stage until a few months ago.

Music group AAA has been announced as a musical guest at this year's Otakon. The convention takes place on July 20-22 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland. AAA is scheduled to perform on Friday, the 20th.
