On Saturday, actress Miho Nakayama made her first public appearance in almost five years. As a resident of Paris for the last four years, she was invited to attend the premiere of Disney's "Ratatouille" at the Gaumont Champs-Elysees.

In 2002, Nakayama married author, musician, and director Hitonari Tsuji. Shortly after their marriage was the last time Nakayama appeared before the media.

At Saturday's event, Nakayama mentioned that she wants to continue acting, but no concrete plans were mentioned. Her last role was in the 2002 Fuji TV drama series "Home & Away."

The management agency of actress Akiko Yada has officially confirmed rumors that she is four months pregnant.

Last year, Yada married actor/singer Manabu Oshio. Because of his reputation as a playboy, her previously clean image was destroyed, and she has received little work since then. With the announcement of Yada's pregnancy, the agency mentioned that she will be suspending her work completely until after the child is born.

The TBS variety game show "Captain Domino," hosted by Minomonta, will be ending its run after only three months. The network cited low ratings as the reason for its termination.

The show was introduced in its Saturday prime time slot on April 28 as part of the network's spring programming shuffle. Producers had high hopes for the show, investing an estimated 100 million yen to construct a special studio for it. However, ratings started out at 6.2% and have failed to improve.

The final episode will air on July 21.

Actor Kenji Haga was arrested on Saturday, along with three others, on suspicions of blackmail. Haga owed a real estate agent approximately 400 million yen, and the four suspects allegedly coerced the man into signing a contract that would reduce the debt to 10 million yen.

Two of Haga's accomplices were identified as former boxing champ Jiro Watanabe and a man named Toshikazu Kawakita, a member of a syndicate that Watanabe has been linked to.

Hip-hop unit HALCALI will be performing a street concert in Paris on July 7, outside the Pompidou Centre.

HALCALI is also scheduled to perform the next day at the Japan Expo in the same city, which is taking place on July 6-8. Other popular such as Nana Kitade, Yoshiki, and OLIVIA will also be participating in the event.

Talento Becky will star in a drama special titled "Shinkansen Girl," based on a book by Mariko Tokubuchi. The story depicts the joys and sorrows of Rinko Takatsuki (Becky), a purser working on a shinkansen.

Also appearing in the drama is NTV announcer Nobuko Miyazaki. This will be her acting debut.

The drama will air on NTV on July 4 at 9:00pm.
