The popular TV Asahi detective drama "Aibou" will begin its sixth series this fall. Yutaka Mizutani and Yasufumi Terawaki will return in their starring roles.

The season will wrap up shortly before the scheduled release of the "Aibou" movie, which hits theaters in the spring.

Shinji Aoyama's "Sad Vacation" will be shown at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, which opens on September 6. It will participate in the festival's Vanguard program.

Anime Vegas has announced that singer Yoko Ishida will attend this year's convention as a Guest of Honor. The convention takes place on September 1-3.

On Friday, Maiko Kikuchi's management agency announced that the actress got married last month.

Her husband is six years older than her (Kikuchi is 33), and he works in management at a company. The two met through a friend.

Kikuchi plans to continue working. Although she is not pregnant, she is said to be hoping to have children soon.

Johnny's Jr. member Toma Ikuta will star in an upcoming production of Shakespeare's comedy, "The Two Gentlemen of Verona." Ikuta plays the lead role, Valentine.

Glen Walford, a well-known theater director from the United Kingdom, will write and direct the play. Fuji TV is in charge of production and planning.

Performances are scheduled for The Globe Tokyo on October 5-14, and at Osaka's Theater BRAVA! on October 27-28.

Actor Naoki Hosaka, who recently entered the Buddhist priesthood, will star in a Fuji TV daytime drama this fall.

The series, titled "Ai no Meikyu," depicts a loveless marriage between the heir to a business concern (Hosaka) and a woman from a distinguished family (Maki Miyamoto). Kaori Takahashi plays Hosaka's mistress, who is the widow of his elder brother.

Other cast members include Mei Kurokawa, Shinnosuke Abe, and Ryunosuke Kawai. The drama will air on weekdays at 1:30pm, starting on October 1.
