53-year-old actress Kumiko Akiyoshi will be a student again next month, in a graduate program at Waseda University.
Right after finishing high school, Akiyoshi pursued a career in acting, but she has always been interested in the social sciences. After consulting with a friend who teaches at Waseda, she decided to pursue a Masters in public management. She presented a thesis in May, then successfully passed an examination in July.
Akiyoshi will continue her acting career while she attends school.
