On Wednesday, the Japan Jewellery Association announced Aya Ueto as the "image leader" for the 2008 YEAR Jewellery campaign. The color for the campaign is orange.

A 17-year-old boy suffered an injury to his left eye during an audition for a television drama series.

The show is being produced by NHK for its Saturday drama time slot and is scheduled to air in January. The story centers on a professional baseball coach who becomes a high school teacher.

Auditions were being held for the members of the school's baseball team, and part of the session involved playing catch. During the activity, one boy was hit directly in the eye by a ball. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was diagnosed with a possible concussion and advised to remain under observation for a month.

After having released their first new single in almost five years, rock band the brilliant green announced their first concert since their reunion. On October 6, the trio will perform at Namba Hatch in Osaka.

The band chose to have the show in the Kansai area because they originally formed in Kyoto.

Two popular comedy duos, Oriental Radio and Tutorial, have been chosen to co-host a new variety show on Fuji TV. The show will air on Wednesdays at 10:00pm, replacing the "Sui 10!" block (which consists of "Cocorico Miracle Type" and Oriental Radio's "Orikyun"). It premieres on October 17.

Just two weeks after Eiko Koike's agency denied news reports that she was getting married, the actress held a press conference announcing that she has tied the knot. Her partner is pro wrestler Wataru Sakata, whom she has been dating for the past five years. They registered their marriage on Wednesday and plan to hold the ceremony next spring.

KAT-TUN's Jin Akanishi has landed his first sole lead in a television drama. He will appear in NTV's "Yukan Club" (often translated as "The Leisure Club"), which is adapted from Yukari Ichijo's popular manga of the same name.

The story is a comedy revolving around six popular high school students. Akanishi plays Miroku Shochikubai, the son of the police commissioner.

The show will air on Tuesdays at 10:00pm, starting on October 16.

Pop group m.o.v.e. is performing at Connichi 2007. The annual manga and anime convention is being held this year at the Kongress Palais in Kassel, Germany, on September 7-9.

Connichi will be the group's first European concert.
