On Wednesday, Ayana Sakai held a press conference regarding her recently announced engagement to L'Arc~en~Ciel's bassist tetsu.

She showed up to the event wearing a pink jacket (reportedly chosen for her by tetsu) and showing off her engagement ring, a 2.2-carat Harry Winston said to be worth about 20 million yen.

According to Sakai, she and tetsu met in September of last year and only began seriously dating this past May. In August, the couple was out on a drive when a rainbow appeared in the sky, and tetsu proposed at that moment.

Sakai confirmed that she is not pregnant and that she intends to continue working after they get married. The two plan to register their marriage before the year closes. A private ceremony will be held next year.

Actor Hideo Sakaki and singer-songwriter Izumi Sakaki announced on Wednesday that their first child, a girl, was born on November 5.

Meanwhile, actor and singer Daisuke Shima also announced a baby. On Tuesday, his wife gave birth to their second child. The couple named their new daughter Ayaka.

Teen gravure idol Miu Nakamura has been hospitalized, it was learned on Tuesday. She reportedly fell sick with a cold and a bout of asthma on the 13th and had to be taken to the hospital at the end of last week.

According to her agency, her work has been put on hold indefinitely while her condition is being monitored.

Kaoruko Sakai, the wife of globe's Marc Panther, was sentenced on Tuesday for drug use. She was taken into police custody in September after urine samples tested positive for narcotics. She was officially charged with using ecstasy, and the judge handed her a 14-month sentence, suspended for three years.

Popular actor Shun Oguri will star in NTV's "Binbou Danshi" this winter. He has played the lead male in a drama series before ("Hanazakari no Kimitachi e"), but this is his first time as the protagonist.

Oguri plays a poor but optimistic college student in this comical story. Because of his overly nice personality, he ends up taking on other people's debts and faces various challenges to pay off those debts.

The series premieres in January and will air on Tuesdays at 10:00pm. BENNIE K will sing the show's theme song, the first they have ever done for a television drama.
