Management agency Horipro and sports club Central Sports completed their first Fitness Talento Audition, looking for a new face to become a "sports idol." On Sunday, third-year university student Moe Hinoki became the grand prize winner.
More than 5,200 women applied for the title. Hinoki, 21, is said to be enthusiastic about aerobics and works out at her local Central Sports gym five times a week.
Olympic gymnast Hiroyuki Tomita presented Hinoki with a gold medal. In addition to a prize of 1 million yen, she will be signed to Horipro and become an advertising model for Central Sports.

On Sunday, the Japan Association of Adult Orthodontics handed out its annual E-Line Beautiful Award, a promotional award given to a celebrity with a beautiful profile. This year's honoree was actress Yumiko Shaku, who turned 30 earlier this month.
In orthodontics, the "E-line" is a reference line connecting the tip of the nose and the soft-tissue chin.
Recent winners of the award include Yuka, Aya Ueto, and Miho Shiraishi.

Media magazine DVD Data announced the winners of its 21st DVD Data Awards. In the Japanese film category, the top honors went to the "Death Note" movie and its sequel. The movies were released together on DVD in March 2007, and the set sold 260,000 copies, ranking 10th for the year. The set also was successful in rental stores.
The DVD of the spinoff movie "L change the WorLd" is being released this week and is expected to also sell well. The movie grossed 3.1 billion yen during its theatrical run earlier this year.
The DVD Data Awards also includes a Best Talento Award. This year, it was given to popular actor Shun Oguri.

9-year-old jazz drummer Tiger has officially become recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's youngest professional drummer. The title was made official on Thursday, while he was in New York to perform at the Clinton Recording Studio with artists such as famous pianist Benny Green.
Tiger, whose real name is Taiga Onitsuka, started playing the drums at the age of 5, and he first performed in New York two years later in 2005. This April, he released his first major label album "TIGER!" through Columbia's Savoy Records.

An upcoming cross-genre cover album is taking several popular songs and redoing them reggae style. The album is the latest undertaking by the COVER LOVER PROJECT, which has released a series of bossa nova cover albums, with the most recent one in stores since March. The group's name has been slightly changed to COVER RAGGA PROJECT for the album, known as "MELLOW LOVERS."
10 songs have been selected for the collection, ranging from Chatmonchy's "Shangri-la" to Ayaka's "Mikazuki" to JUDY AND MARY's "Over Drive." Other artists being covered include Spitz, Kobukuro, Kaela Kimura, and Yosui Inoue.
"MELLOW LOVERS" goes on sale July 23.
