Actor Dai Watanabe, the son of Ken Watanabe, is officially a father. He revealed on his blog that his wife gave birth to a boy on Saturday evening.
Dai has been married since March 14 of this year.

Actor Yuya Yagira has now issued an official statement regarding the news of his hospitalization, clarifying that he did not attempt suicide, contrary to early news reports.
Yagira explained he had gotten into a verbal argument with his family. During the quarrel, he took some tranquilizers that his doctor had prescribed for him, but he consumed more than his usual dosage. As a result, he fell ill, and he himself requested an ambulance. He was taken to a hospital, but he was able to leave later that day.
He assured everyone that he had no intention of suicide, and also apologized for causing concern.

Actor Jun Kaname and singer Hitomi Shimatani are co-starring in a movie called "Parallel," directed by Kazuaki Muto.
The film is based on the life of Kazuyuki Kyoya, a former J League soccer player whose legs were paralyzed in a car accident in 1993, forcing him to quit the sport. Despite the tragedy, he has since gone on to become a role model as a member of Japan's national wheelchair basketball team.
Kaname is playing the role of Kyoya, while Shimatani has been cast as Kyoya's supportive wife Yoko. Shimatani is also handling the movie's theme song, titled "SMILES."
"Parallel" is scheduled to come out in 2009.
