TV Asahi's long-running detective drama "Aibou" opened its 7th season on Wednesday. According to viewership data, the show achieved ratings of 17.9%. This is the best premiere the franchise has ever had, and it is also one of the highest-rated episodes in the show's history.
"Aibou" proved its popularity earlier this year, when the movie version set the records for the highest box office gross and attendance numbers of the first half of 2008. The new television series has also drawn lots of attention due to the announcement that actor Yasufumi Terawaki will be departing from the show sometime this season.

On Wednesday, the Asia-Pacific Producers' Network held a presentation ceremony for its 2nd APN Award. This year the organization, which was established by producers from seven countries, selected actor Kenichi Matsuyama as the award's recipient. He was recognized for his work on films such as "L change the WorLd," which opened in several Asian countries this past February.

Takeshi Hosomi, the vocalist of rock band ELLEGARDEN, will soon be making his solo debut through For Life Music Entertainment. According to his official MySpace page, he stated that he chose a different label because he wanted to "start from zero."
Hosomi is currently in Hokkaido working on a solo album. The release date and other details will be announced in the future through his MySpace page.

Salyu has been chosen to sing the theme song of "Harufuwei," the first film directed by screenwriter Eriko Kitagawa. The ballad, titled "HALFWAY," will be heard during the film's ending credits.
The movie, which stars Kie Kitano and Masaki Okada, was first announced in May. Its theatrical premiere has been scheduled for February 2009. Salyu's song has not yet been given a release date.

It was recently announced that Hello! Project's Elder Club will be graduating next March. While the future plans of most of the members are still unknown, the four-girl group Melon Kinenbi has at least revealed that they plan to stay together.
On the group's official blog, they stated that they do not plan on breaking up, and they asked for fans to continue giving them support.
