26-year-old actress Yoko Maki is the latest to announce a sudden wedding. She tied the knot on Tuesday, and she is currently three months pregnant, due to give birth early next summer.

Maki's husband is a 26-year-old salaryman in an industry unrelated to show business. They have reportedly been dating for about three years, and they are already living together.

Maki has been gaining in popularity since her appearance in the Fuji TV action drama "SP" in late 2007. While her pregnancy means that she won't be able to do any more action roles for the time being, she plans to continue working until her last month of pregnancy, including her voice acting role in the ongoing "Michiko to Hatchin" anime series. She is also aiming to return to work as quickly as possible after the child is born.

Former NEWS member Hiroki Uchi is back in the music business after three and a half years. He will hold his first solo concerts in Yokohama on December 20-21 and in Osaka on January 3-4. His last music performances were with NEWS in May 2005.

Along with Hironori Kusano, Uchi was suspended by Johnny's Jimusho after being caught for underage drinking and was subsequently demoted to trainee status. Last summer, he returned to show business in the Shonentai musical "PLAYZONE," and he was cast in television dramas earlier this year.

Johnny Kitagawa said that Uchi's suspension hasn't weakened his skills, but Kitagawa will make a decision based on these concerts as to whether Uchi will remain solo or go on as part of a group.

Uchi's concerts will also feature appearances by Johnny's Jr. acts like Question? and Akito Kiriyama.

Ai Kago's latest blog entry reveals that she may have Meniere's disease, a disorder affecting the inner ear. On Saturday, she was scheduled to watch a play starring Koasa Shunputei, whom she will appear with in a play next year. However, she wasn't feeling well in the morning, so she went to the hospital.

The doctor examining her said that her symptoms suggest Meniere's disease, which generally causes dizziness, tinnitus, and hearing loss. While it is not a serious health risk, it can become an obstacle to daily life. For example, sportscaster Hideki Kuriyama had to quit his career as a pro baseball player in 1990 due to the disorder.
