Actor Nakao hospitalized for pneumonia

Actor Akira Nakao (64) was hospitalized early Saturday morning due to acute pneumonia.

Nakao was in Osaka to appear on a TV program on Saturday, but he was found ill in his hotel room when his manager went to pick him up. Nakao insisted on working despite a fever, but his staff called an ambulance to take him to the hospital. He was diagnosed with acute pneumonia and was treated in the intensive care unit.

Nakao’s agency said that the incident was nothing major. They expect him to be released from the hospital by next week.
