Akikawa’s hit song becomes TV drama

Tenor Masafumi Akikawa’s hit single “Sen no Kaze ni Natte” will be used as the basis for a Fuji TV “documentary drama.” The drama will be broadcast during golden time on four nights in August (Friday and Saturday for two consecutive weeks).

The song, which has sold 920,000 copies so far, is a remake of an earlier song by Man Arai, which itself was a translation of the American poem “Do not stand at my grave and weep.”

The four drama episodes will be based on true stories of people finding inspiration and comfort from the song, helping them cope with sadness. One of the stories will be chosen from public submissions. Arai will serve as a judge for the selection process.

It was also mentioned that Akikawa may have a cameo appearance in the drama.
