Announcer Masumi Yamamoto found dead in possible suicide

NTV announcer Masumi Yamamoto was found dead on Tuesday morning in the Aoba ward of Sendai. She was 34.

At around 4:45am on July 27, police received a call informing them that someone was found collapsed in front of a high-rise apartment building. Police arrived at the scene to find the woman already dead, and she was identified as Yamamoto. Based on the circumstances, police currently believe that Yamamoto committed suicide by jumping from the building, but further investigation is underway.

Yamamoto, a graduate of Gakushuin University, joined NTV in 1999. She covered sports news on a variety of programs such as “NNN News Plus 1” and “NNN News REALTIME.” In March 2009, she got married to a man not in show business.
