Charts: EXILE excels, Tokyo Jihen finally reaches top

Last week, EXILE released their new album “Aisubeki Mirai e.” As expected, it took the #1 spot in the weekly ranking, selling an impressive 730,000 copies. This is the strongest first-week performance for an original album this year, surpassing Mr.Children’s “SUPERMARKET FANTASY” (708,000). However, it fell short of Arashi’s compilation album “All the BEST! 1999-2009” (753,000).

Besides EXILE’s release, only two other new albums entered the top ten this week. BREAKERZ ranked #7 with their fourth album, “FIGHTERZ,” while Gackt’s “RE:BORN” came in at #9.

On the singles chart, Ringo Shiina’s band Tokyo Jihen claimed #1 with 45,000 copies sold of “Noudouteki Sanpunkan,” their first single in more than two years. All of their previous singles have debuted within the top five on the charts, but this is their first #1.

DIR EN GREY’s new song was #2 in sales, with ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION not too far behind at #4. Snow Prince Gasshoudan (led by Johnny's Jr. member Shintaro Morimoto) ranked #5. Kana Nishino (#7), Ging Nang Boyz (#9), and talento Becky (#10) also made the top ten.
