Charts: “K-On!!” dominates single sales

Last year, the popular anime series “K-On!” achieved the first #1 album by anime characters, and this week, it achieved the first #1 single. “GO! GO! MANIAC,” the opening theme from the show’s currently-airing second season (titled “K-On!!”), sold more than 83,000 copies to claim the top spot.

In addition, the show’s ending theme “Listen!!” sold 77,000 copies to rank #2 for the week. Before this, the only female singers to achieve the top two singles in the same week were Keiko Fuji in 1970 and Seiko Matsuda in 1983.

°C-ute’s new song charted at #5. Hilcrhyme (#6), Yukari Tamura (#7), and Shoko Nakagawa (#9) also entered the top ten.

On the albums chart, Hideaki Tokunaga’s “VOCALIST 4” remained at #1 for the second week in a row. The only new release to break the top ten was from SURFACE, which barely made the list.
