Media magazine DVD Data announced the winners of its 21st DVD Data Awards. In the Japanese film category, the top honors went to the “Death Note” movie and its sequel. The movies were released together on DVD in March 2007, and the set sold 260,000 copies, ranking 10th for the year. The set also was successful in rental stores.
The DVD of the spinoff movie “L change the WorLd” is being released this week and is expected to also sell well. The movie grossed 3.1 billion yen during its theatrical run earlier this year.
