Eri Kamei, Junjun, Linlin to graduate from Morning Musume

Producer Tsunku announced on his blog on Sunday that the group’s 9th generation audition will be held this year, their first since 2006. While the group is expecting to add new members, Tsunku also revealed the bigger news that Eri Kamei, Junjun, and Linlin will be graduating.

Kamei, who joined the group in 2003 as part of the 6th generation, has for a long time been suffering from a skin condition called atopic dermatitis. She currently uses medicine for relief, and the condition is hidden during performances through the use of foundation, but she has been wanting to get it fully treated. As a result, she will be graduating from Morning Musume and Hello! Project at the end of Morning Musume’s concert tour this fall. Her plans after that have not yet been decided.

Chinese members Junjun and Linlin joined Morning Musume in 2007 as part of the 8th generation, though they were not selected through a regular Morning Musume audition. Both of them will graduate at the same time as Kamei. They are currently preparing to continue their entertainment careers in China as singers and talentos.

The 9th generation audition is accepting applicants between the ages of 10 and 17. Exact dates for the audition have not been announced.
