40-year-old enka singer Sanae Jonouchi, once part of the Onyanko Club, was involved in a traffic accident last week. While driving in Tokyo’s Minato ward on the evening of November 6, she was exiting an alleyway to get onto a main road. As she did so, a woman on a bicycle was approaching from the left, and the two collided.
The cyclist, a 55-year-old American national, suffered serious injuries, including a broken shoulder. Jonouchi is expected to be charged with negligent driving.
