Fuji TV adapts “Hanagoromo Yumegoromo”

Tokai TV is producing a live-action version of Mutsumi Tsukumo’s manga “Hanagoromo Yumegoromo.” The series will air on Fuji TV on weekdays at 1:30pm, starting on March 31.

The story revolves around identical twins Maho and Mio, who are leading peaceful lives in Tokyo at the age of 17. One day, Maho goes out as a substitute for Mio, but is attacked by a man. She ends up getting pregnant, and the abortion results in her losing her womb. Maho later moves to Kanagawa to study kaga-yuzen. She receives a marriage proposal from a man named Masashi, but refuses due to her infertility, leading Masashi to marry Mio instead.

The series will last 65 episodes. The first 25 will cover the girls’ lives between the ages of 17 and 20, and they will be played by real-life twins Ai and Yui Ozaki. For the rest of the series, the parts will be played by sisters (non-twins) Makiko and Mayuko Yoshida. Other cast members include Hidekazu Mashima (as Masashi) and Midori Hagio.
