Graduation songs turned into omnibus drama
This March, Fuji TV will broadcast an omnibus drama titled “Sotsu Uta,” based on the theme of “graduation.” It will consist of four episodes, each associated with a popular song at school graduations. Mirai Shida (16), Ryoko Kuninaka (30), Kie Kitano (18), and Masami Nagasawa (22) have been cast as the leads.
Shida will star in the first episode. She and Shiori Kutsuna (17) play best friends who must bid farewell to their high school days. Naturally, Kiroro’s “Best Friend” will serve as the theme.
The second episode stars Kuninaka as a woman getting ready for marriage. The story will depict her relationship with her stubborn but loving father (
Mitsuru Hirata).
EXILE’s “
Michi” is linked to the episode.
Sukima Switch’s “
Kanade” will be used in the third episode. Kitano plays a university student worrying about love and her dreams as she is about to find a job.
Nagasawa appears in those three episodes as a radio personality, and her character is the focus of the fourth episode. After graduation, her character moves to Tokyo and tries to succeed there. The related song will be
Yumi Matsutoya’s early hit “
Sotsugyo Shashin,” released during her days as Yumi Arai.
The episodes will come just in time for graduation season, airing on four consecutive nights starting March 1.
