Hideo Yokoyama stories adapted as dramas
Four short suspense stories by author Hideo Yokoyama (“Climber's High”) are being turned into a series of drama specials on WOWOW. They will air on consecutive Sundays, with the first scheduled for March 14 and the last scheduled for April 4.
The stories are taken from two of Yokoyama’s collections – “Shinsou” and “Kanshugan.”
“
18th Hole” stars
Toru Nakamura (44) as a man who runs for local office in order to cover up a secret from his past. If he gets elected, he will be able to change the planned location for the construction of a golf course’s 18th hole, preventing anyone from discovering the corpse of a woman hidden there.
“
Gohou,” originally titled “Shizuka na Ie,” features
Goro Kishitani (45) as a newspaper copy editor who makes the mistake of publishing the wrong date for a photographer’s exhibit. Hoping to hide the mistake, he visits the photographer to personally apologize before any complaints arrive. But a few days later, the editor finds himself entangled in a murder case after the photographer is found dead.
The third story is “
Jiden,” which stars
Tetsuji Tamayama (29) as a struggling writer. He receives a request to write the biography of a major company president, but on the first day of interviews, the president confesses that he has killed someone.
In the last story, “
Tanin no Ie,”
Atsuro Watabe (41) plays an ex-convict who tries to live a peaceful life with his wife after his release from prison. But when his criminal record is discovered, the couple gets thrown out of their apartment. Things seem to turn around when an elderly and cancer-stricken man in the neighborhood asks them to become his adopted children and inherit his home. However, they soon end up involved in a shocking incident.
