Horipro’s next star

Management agency Horipro teamed up with fashion magazine Men's Non-No to hold a special new actor audition for its 50th anniversary. The finals of the “Campustar H50 with Men’s Non-no” audition took place on Sunday, and the ultimate winner was 21-year-old Takuro Ohno, a second-year student at Rikkyo University.

In addition to the grand prize, Ohno received four other honors: the Ameba Award, the Men’s Non-no Reader’s Vote Award, the PEEK-A-BOO Award, and the P.S.F.A. Award. Other winners were 22-year-old Yuki Furukawa (Special Judges Award) and 21-year-old Daisuke Kikuta (Men’s Non-No Award).

With his victory, Ohno is being signed to Horipro. His first major work will be a role in the upcoming movie “The Incite Mill,” which the agency unveiled last month. The film is being directed by Hideo Nakata and co-stars ten of Horipro’s top talents. Nagisa Katahira, Tatsuya Fujiwara, Haruka Ayase, Aya Hirayama, Shinji Takeda, Kinya Kitaoji, Tsuyoshi Abe, and Satomi Ishihara were already announced, and now Ohno has become one of the ten.

“The Incite Mill” is scheduled to begin filming next month, with theatrical release planned for this fall.
