The soundtrack for Osamu Katayama's "Heat Island" will be an impressive mix: 14 artists from 11 labels have signed on to provide their music for the film.
Each of the artists were shown the script and the film, then asked to select one of their existing songs that suited the feel of the movie. The participants include AI, MINMI, HOME MADE Kazoku, BENNIE K, SOUL'd OUT, and SOULHEAD (who provided three songs). The main theme song will be "New Wave" by ska band ROCK'A'TRENCH, who just made their major label debut this year.
The soundtrack is scheduled to be released simultaneously with the film, which opens in October.
