The 2006 Best Jeanist award ceremony was held on Monday. This year's top winners were both first-timers. In the female category, singer Kumi Koda received 19,603 votes, almost 2,500 more votes than singer aiko and almost 9,000 more votes than Aya Ueto. In the male category, KAT-TUN member Kazuya Kamenashi defeated two previous awardees: 2005 winner Kiyoshi Hikawa received more than a thousand votes fewer, while 2004 winner Tsuyoshi Domoto barely received half of Kamenashi's 40,092 votes. In the Committee Selection category, the three winners were Yokohama mayor Hiroshi Nakada, pro figure skater Shizuka Arakawa, and actress Yumiko Shaku.
