In March, it was revealed that Korean director Bong Joon-ho ("The Host") and French directors Michel Gondry ("Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind") and Leos Carax ("Pola X") are working on a triptych film set in Japan, titled "Tokyo!" A few details have now been announced.
Each of the three strange tales will last about half an hour, making for a total runtime of approximately 90 minutes. Carax's segment will use a French cast and staff, while the other two directors will mainly use a Japanese cast and staff.
The segments are titled "Shaking Tokyo" (Joon-ho), "Hiroko & Akira in Tokyo" (Gondry), and "Merde" (Carax). Filming begins in late August. The directors are aiming to take the film to Cannes in May.
