Masafumi Akikawa's "Sen no Kaze ni Natte" has finally reached a million sales, according to Oricon's numbers this week. The song is the first classical single in Japan to reach that mark.
Although the tune was released in May of last year, it suffered from obscurity until Akikawa sang it at the last Kohaku Uta Gassen. It became an instant hit, reaching #1 on the charts and setting multiple records in the classical genre.
