Miho Nakayama will return to acting in a movie based on her husband's work. She married Akutagawa Prize-winning author Hitonari Tsuji in 2002 and last appeared in the drama series "Home & Away" before she and Tsuji permanently moved to Paris. This will be her first appearance in a movie since 1997.
Her comeback role is in "Sayonara Itsuka," based on Tsuji's 2001 novel of the same name. It was originally planned to become a movie in 2002 with Nakayama as the star, but their marriage that year and other circumstances resulted in the project getting shelved.
The movie has now been revived in the hands of Korean director Lee Jae-han, though the cast is said to be entirely Japanese. Filming starts in Bangkok next month, with additional locations in Korea and Japan scheduled later on. Theatrical release has been set for next spring.
