Koji Matsumoto's horror manga "Higanjima" is officially going to be adapted as a live-action film. The story follows a boy named Akira Miyamoto whose brother disappeared on an island known as Higanjima. When Akira and his friends head to the island in search of the brother, they find that it is full of vampires and other monsters.
The cast is still unannounced, but Korean director Kim Tae-gyun ("Volcano High") is heading the project with Tetsuya Oishi (the "Death Note" films) writing the script. Release is targeted for summer 2009.
