Broadcaster Fuji TV has announced a new project to adapt its popular television dramas to theater. As a test case, the first production will be based on the comedy "Sanryuu Daigaku Ouendan." The four-episode drama was a part of "Division 1," Fuji TV's late night drama program that ran from April 2004 to September 2005.
"Sanryuu Daigaku Ouendan" will be performed around the country, starting on March 26 at the Kinokuniya Southern Theater. 25 performances in 12 venues are scheduled. Actor Masayuki Imai, who starred in the original TV series, will star in the stage version. He will also be in charge of the script and directing.
