Jun Matsumoto of Arashi will play the lead role in an NTV drama series this spring. The series is titled "Bambino!" and is based on the manga of the same name by Tetsuji Sekiya. It will run in the Wednesday 10:00pm time slot.
The protagonist of the story is a young man from Fukuoka who comes to Tokyo to pursue his dream of being a chef. Matsumoto, who admits to not being very good at cooking, will undergo special training in Italian cuisine. Matsumoto will also be trained to speak Hakata-ben (a dialect from Fukuoka) and some Italian.
The work is described as not "just a cooking drama, but a human drama about working people."
