Next spring, TBS will be bringing its long-running news show "NEWS23" to an end. The network is planning to establish a large-scale news show on weekday evenings, and as a result, it is cutting back its news programming late at night.
"NEWS23" has been on the air since 1989, but it lost long-time anchor Tetsuya Chikushi when he died of lung cancer last month. The show will officially end after March.
