16-year-old gravure idol Shizuka Umemoto announced on Saturday that she has left her management agency (Strike Planning & Promotion), apparently retiring from the world of show business.
On her official website, she informed her fans that she is "graduating" from Strike, though her tone strongly suggested that she does not plan on continuing her work with another agency. In her message, she reflected on her five-year career and expressed gratitude to her agency and her fans.
Umemoto earned the Special Readers' Prize in the 2008 Miss Magazine competition.
