Nine years after her debut, singer AI has finally topped the Oricon sales charts. Her "BEST A.I." compilation was released last week, and it managed to barely capture the #1 spot with almost 82,000 copies.
#2 was Takeshi Tsuruno's latest song, selling more than 80,000. Also in the top ten were Kazuyoshi Saito (#7), an m-flo tribute album (#8), and hip-hop group LGYankees (#10).
On the singles chart, Kumi Koda ranked 1st with her double A-side "Alive / Physical thing," which includes the theme song to the movie "Kamui Gaiden." The single sold a total of more than 32,000 copies in its first week.
°C-ute was #2, followed by Kou Shibasaki. Cocco and Angela Aki also had new releases in the top ten, ranking 6th and 7th, respectively.
