Nana Mizuki's 21st single, "PHANTOM MINDS," topped the charts this week at almost 54,000 in sales. With this, she is now the first voice actress to reach #1 on Oricon's weekly singles chart. Last June, she also became the first to top the weekly albums chart.
Mari Yaguchi, leading the new unit Yaguchi Mari with Straw Hat, took #2 with 19,000 copies sold of "Kaze wo Sagashite." The rest of the top ten were almost all new releases, coming from Sakanaction, FLOW, Motohiro Hata, Kiyoharu, Straightener, and The Birthday. The Birthday actually charted at #9 and #10 with two simultaneously released songs.
Meanwhile, the albums chart was led by "Olympos" from the fictitious band LANDS (from the movie "BANDAGE"). Featuring KAT-TUN member Jin Akanishi, LANDS also topped the singles chart early last month. The "Olympos" album, which sold more than 103,000 copies, is just the second album by a fictional movie-based band to reach #1. The feat was last accomplished by YEN TOWN BAND's "MONTAGE" in 1996, originating from Shunji Iwai's movie "Swallowtail." Not coincidentally, Iwai and music producer Takeshi Kobayashi were involved in both of the mentioned films.
Hilcrhyme reached #2 with their first album, "Recital." MAY'S, FACT, and Love Psychedelico also entered the top ten with new albums.
On the DVD charts, Perfume was #1 with their newest live tour DVD at 54,000 copies sold. This is their third consecutive release at the top of the overall DVD charts. Morning Musume is the only other female group to achieve that, back in 2001.
