Toei Animation, in honor of its 50th anniversary, has announced that the animated film Hakujaden will be turned into a musical. Former Morning Musume member Natsumi Abe has been selected to play the lead role. Based on a traditional Chinese story commonly known as "the Legend of the White Snake," Hakujaden was the first color animated feature film in Japan when it was released in 1958.
The musical will run from November 8 to November 26 at Le Theatre Ginza.
