On Tuesday, distributor Phantom Film announced that Hitoshi Matsumoto's directorial debut, "Dainipponjin," has been invited to the Director's Fortnight at this year's Cannes Film Festival (May 16-27). The date of the screening has not yet been set.
The movie is still shrouded in secrecy. Matsumoto revealed the main cast at the end of March, but no other details have been announced. The veil will finally be removed at Cannes, which will be the film's world premiere. It will not be seen in Japanese theaters until June 2.
