Ishihara, Tamaki split once again

The drama-filled relationship of actress Mariko Ishihara (45) and singer Koji Tamaki (50) has reportedly ended again, roughly half a year after they tied the knot.

The actress, who changed her name to Mari Ishihara earlier this year, first started seeing Tamaki close to 25 years ago. Tamaki was married at the time, so when his affair with Ishihara was discovered in 1985, he and his wife ended up divorcing the following year. The lovers broke up not long after that, and in her 2006 autobiography “Fuzoroi na Himitsu,” Ishihara revealed that Tamaki was guilty of domestic violence.

They each had multiple romances in the many years after that affair, but this past February they got back together and quickly filed for marriage. However, there have been rumors that they could not successfully change their family registers because Ishihara had not officially divorced a man she married while in the United States.

Details of Ishihara and Tamaki’s recent breakup are still unclear, though unconfirmed reports say their relationship became strained after returning from their honeymoon trip around the world, which lasted from the end of March to early August.
