Itsuji Itao gets first lead role in drama series

This winter, Itsuji Itao (46) will take on his first starring role in a drama series. He has been chosen to lead NTV’s tentatively-titled “Kinoshita Bucho to Boku,” scheduled to start in January.

Itao has acted in many dramas and movies, and even directed and starred in a film that will be released early next year. However, he has not starred in a TV series before this.

In the drama, Itao plays Kinoshita, an irresponsible and unreliable division chief at an advertising firm who regularly comes in late, leaves early, and dozes off at work. But somehow, his unexpected ideas end up solving difficult problems at work for the elite employee Kimishima (Shin Takuma). Naoki Tanaka (38), Kyoko Toyama (34), Maiko Yamada (28), and Yoshimi Tokui (34) have also been cast in the show.

NTV has scheduled the series in the Thursday 11:58pm time slot. The first episode will start half an hour later.
