Japanese films win at Sitges

The 40th Sitges Film Festival announced this year’s winners on Saturday. Four Japanese films received honors: “Sukiyaki Western Django,” “Mushishi,” “Dororo,” and “Tekkon Kinkreet.”

“Django” won for Best Cinematography (Toyomichi Kurita) and Best Production Design (Takashi Sasaki). “Mushishi” also received two awards, for Best Original Soundtrack (Kuniaki Haishima) and Best Special Effects.

“Dororo” picked up the title of Best Motion Picture in the Orient Express section of the festival. In the Anima’t section, “Tekkon Kinkreet” was given Special Mention.
