Japan’s top literary prize awarded

Writer Takami Ito, 35, has been awarded the 135th Akutagawa Prize, considered to be Japan’s top literary award. His winning novel is titled “Hachigatsu no Rojo ni Suteru,” which translates as “Throwing Stuff Away on a Road in August”. The Naoki Prize, another prestigious literary award, was presented the same day to authors Shion Miura (for “Mahoro Ekimae Tada Benriken”) and Eto Mori (for “Kaze ni Maiagaru Biniiru Shiito”).
