Junichi Ishida, Riko Higashio engaged

On Tuesday, actor Junichi Ishida (55) and professional golfer Riko Higashio (33) held a press conference to publicly announce their engagement. Their relationship was first revealed in July.

Higashio’s father, who is just four years older than Ishida, had been against the idea of their marriage, but they finally earned his approval in late September. They have not set a specific date for the wedding, but they will likely hold it before the start of the next golf season.

Coinciding with the announcement was the news that actress Chiaki Matsubara (51) got divorced at the start of this year. Matsubara was Ishida’s second wife, married to him between 1988 and 1999, though she had remarried shortly after their breakup.
