Kadokawa: next Hiroshi Shinagawa film and new Higashino adaptation

On Friday, Kadokawa Pictures unveiled its movie lineup for 2010. The announcement also revealed two films that are scheduled for 2011 – a new movie directed by comedian Hiroshi Shinagawa, and another adaptation of a Keigo Higashino novel.

Last year, Shinagawa made his directorial debut with “Drop,” an adaptation of his autobiographical novel. It performed well in theaters, earning close to 250 million yen at the box office. For his second film, he is once again adapting one of his novels, titled “Manzai Gang.” The story revolves around a comedian who becomes involved in an incident, and as a result, is placed in a detention cell. There, he meets a delinquent from Shibuya, and the two form a comedy duo.

The other newly announced film is “Yoake no Machi de,” based on Higashino’s novel of the same name. No details about the staff or cast are known yet.
